Project description

Envisioned as a lower end successor to the Geeksphone One, the rapid advances in chipset features, modems and display implied it was indeed a better performing device than its predecessor despite its low price. The Zero was the first device sold in Western Europe below the 200 euro price barrier and was co-designed by the Geeksphone community.

It featured a 600 MHz Qualcomm processor with an Adreno GPU, 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of Flash storage, expandable with SD cards. A beloved phone by the developer community, as noted: “It is, however, capable of delivering a consistent experience at a reasonable performance level for much longer than any other phone on the market, and that is why the GeeksPhone Zero will be my next smartphone.”

The Zero was manufactured by SIMCom under Geeksphone hardware design specifications. Software integration originally developed by Geeksphone, then maintained by our dev community under the Certified Community Release Program.
